About the suburb
North Manly at a glance
North Manly sits about 17 kilometres north-east of the city, in Northern Beaches Council. Its early name was tied to Corrie Road: the Corrie Road Post Office opened in 1916 and took the name North Manly in 1926, before closing in 1978.
It is mostly a suburb of family houses, with a smaller number of apartments, and most homes are lived in by their owners. Couples with children are the largest household group, and the most common age group is 40 to 49.
Open space is a large part of the suburb's character. Manly District Park, Nolan Reserve and Warringah Golf Course are all here, and parks and reserves cover nearly a third of its area. The land sits low, only a few metres above sea level, with Manly Lagoon along its eastern side.
Daily life leans on the neighbouring suburbs. Pittwater Road and Condamine Street run along its edges, with buses to Manly and the city, and the beaches at Queenscliff and Freshwater are close by. For schools and larger shops, most families look to Manly Vale, Balgowlah and Brookvale.
The trade-offs are worth saying plainly. Much of North Manly is low-lying, near Manly Lagoon and its creeks, so flood risk needs checking street by street. Homes close to Pittwater Road trade convenience for traffic noise. And because few apartments change hands, treat the apartment figures in the statistics box as a guide, not a price.
