About the suburb

Artarmon at a glance

Artarmon is about nine kilometres north of the city, in the City of Willoughby, on the North Shore railway line. It mixes homes, shops and an industrial area south of the Gore Hill Freeway, yet it keeps a leafy feel.

Apartments far outnumber houses. The high-rise buildings are to the west of the railway line and the houses to the east. Just under half of homes are lived in by their owners; couples with children are the largest household group, and the most common age group is 30 to 39.

Houses come up less often than apartments, and owners tend to stay for many years. For a house here, being ready before it is advertised matters.

Land grants here date from 1794. William Gore was granted 150 acres in 1810 and named the property after his family's estate in Ireland; Gore Hill carries his name. Artarmon Public School opened in 1910, the shops on Hampden Road face the station, and the photographer Max Dupain had his studio here from 1971 until 1992. The Gore Hill Freeway meets the Pacific Highway at Artarmon, and buses to the city run along the highway.

The trade-offs are worth saying plainly. Some streets sit close to the railway, the freeway or the industrial area, and noise and traffic change from block to block. Apartments vary widely, so the strata records come first. And because few houses change hands, treat the house figures in the statistics box as a guide, not a price.

How we work

How we help you buy in Artarmon

In a suburb split between apartments and houses that seldom sell, the work is knowing which side of the line suits you, then judging each home on evidence. On average, a search with us looks like this.

~50reviewed in detail
~20inspected and filmed for you
1home bought
6–8weeks, on average

Director-led, start to finish

You deal with Sarah and Mike directly. No juniors, no hand-offs. Over 75% of the homes we buy are secured off-market.

A fixed fee, agreed upfront

Our fee is set before we start and is not a percentage of the price, so we are never better off when you pay more.

We will tell you when to walk away

We are as proud of the houses we talk clients out of as the ones we buy. If an Artarmon apartment or house does not stack up, you will hear it from us first.
